“BOLD AS A LION” (10/02/23) ‘Part 6’ Community Bible Study on Monday nights in Plymouth, MI…God’s Word tells you and I that who we hang out with has eternal consequences. We are becoming like them or the are becoming like us. Through the knowledge of God’s Word, His instructions tell us what it looks like to be righteous. Read what Paul told the follower or imitator of Jesus Christ on how to interact with those around us.

1 Corinthians 5:9-13 AMPC

9 I wrote you in my [previous] letter not to associate [closely and habitually] with unchaste (impure) people—

10 Not [meaning of course that you must] altogether shun the immoral people of this world, or the greedy graspers and cheats and thieves or idolaters, since otherwise you would need to get out of the world and human society altogether!

11 But now I write to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of [Christian] brother if he is known to be guilty of immorality or greed, or is an idolater [whose soul is devoted to any object that usurps the place of God], or is a person with a foul tongue [railing, abusing, reviling, slandering], or is a drunkard or a swindler or a robber. [No] you must not so much as eat with such a person.

12 What [business] of mine is it and what right have I to judge outsiders? Is it not those inside [the church] upon whom you are to pass disciplinary judgment [passing censuring sentence on them as the facts require]?

13 God alone sits in judgment on those who are outside. Drive out that wicked one from among you [expel him from your church].

As a christian, a follower of Jesus Christ (Jesus is the Word) don’t let anyone tell you or impress upon you what you should or shouldn’t do if it’s contrary to His Word (The BIble). You need to ask the Holy Spirit what’s right or wrong because He will guide you into all truth because He only speaks what the Word says.

Romans 8:1 AMPC

8 Therefore, [there is] now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus, who live [and] walk not after the dictates of the flesh, but after the dictates of the Spirit.

“BOLD AS A LION” (09/25/23) ‘Part 5’ Community Bible Study on Monday nights in Plymouth, MI… God’s Word tells you and I that in order to please HIM, we have to live by faith. How do I get the kind of faith that God is speaking of? Think happy thoughts? No…Wake up every morning and keep going?no…. What kind of faith is God talking about? Is it faith I myself? No…Is it faith that everything works out the way I want it to? No… Faith comes by hearing and believing what God says in His Word about every “thing” in your life. Those “things” are not just the do’s but also the do not’s.

Faith is built on the platform of righteousness and faith without the act of obedience is dead or leads to death (James 2:26). When you and I read, believe and act on God’s Word regarding all aspects of our life, we are living righteous or right according to His Word. Regardless of the outcome in the natural we have chosen to trust God because we love Him…that is faith.

With our new nature of righteousness our conduct needs to align by reading His Word and living righteous in order to live by faith. Our thoughts are no longer are thoughts, we have the Word in us so, if we think and act on God’s Word, our thinking is righteous or right. When Peter saw Jesus walking to him on the water he said, “If that be you, tell me to come to you on the water.” Most people aren’t like that…that’s a new way of thinking and talking. (How many of you would have seen that and answered like that?)

Peter was thinking outside of the natural, a new of way of thinking, he wasn't letting people in the boat influence him to what he could and couldn’t do. I’m telling you that there are people in your boat (circle of influence) that are trying to talk you out of the big life that God has called you to. (The devil makes you think small) So what you need to do is get out of the boat or kick them out so you can do what God has called you to do. - Pastor Grant

“BOLD AS A LION” (09/18/23) ‘Part 4’ Community Bible Study on Monday nights in Plymouth, MI… In part 4 we are going to look at the Never Wrong Prophet Daniel and how he overcame the obstacles in his life that were caused by being righteous… (I would say being thrown in a lions den would be a very large obstacle).

In past series we have studied the life of Daniel and we know that God was using bad for good. Daniel was being trained as royalty to be elevated in a godless culture because he set himself apart in word and deed. He had an aristocratic mindset and there were “things” that he would not give into during his training in the Kingdom of God.

Daniel was elevated in the Babylonian Empire because of an excellent spirit that was in him or a superior spirit…that is Bible. But his coworkers in the kingdom were jealous and tried to bring him down or make him feel inferior because he chose to live for God in public.

Daniel did not avoid the lions den, he had to go thru it in order for the King and others to see the greatness of God and who Daniel served. Remember, the very thing you are trying to avoid by doing what is right or righteous is the very thing that God needs you to go thru so others may see God’s protection and power on your life. Don't be afraid to set yourself apart from the “christian” crowd. Peter got out of the boat and walked on water solo, in front of those that stayed on the boat.

“BOLD AS A LION” (09/11/23) ‘Part 3’ Community Bible Study on Monday nights in Plymouth, MI… Our faith is built on the righteousness of God, He said so. When we choose to follow Christ, to be an imitator of Christ (a christian) we are talking about our conduct, our conduct in this new nature of a christian. The Righteousness of God is our nature; it’s His DNA, His Word coming into us. This nature is there through the Holy Spirit to teach us and show us our conduct in order to align with our new nature. Before we came to Christ we acted differently. Hopefully we're different now, perfecting, growing.

When we choose to say (in Word and Deed) we no longer want to be in the sin nature but walk and grow in this “born again” new slate nature of God and His righteousness, we need to be trained. Preaching and teaching which rightly divides God’s Word is key in growing to be Bold as a Lion. In this new nature, living by faith, being obedient to His commands…God will reveal and solve “things” in our life differently then we could of ever dreamed or imagined.

In Matthew 14 The disciples were in a boat in the midst of a storm and needed to be rescued. Jesus came to rescue or solve their problem in a way they never imagined… 26 And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified and said, It is a ghost! And they screamed out with fright.

The solution was there and it was only Peter who believed. He stepped out of the boat leaving the others who were in fear and walked on water. Peter was literally walking in this new nature, in the midst of the problem, he put his eyes on Jesus or the Word. It was only when he took his eyes off of Jesus or the Word that he began to sink.

Keep your eyes, your faith, your words and actions solely in the Word of God and walk on water today in the midst of your storm! - Pastor Grant

“BOLD AS A LION” (08/28/23) ‘Part 2’ (Week 2 of 2) Community Bible Study on Monday nights in Plymouth, MI… God’s Word tells you and I that it is impossible to please God without Faith (not just saying I have faith but by our actions). James writes that Faith absent of obedience leads to death. From part 1 of our series and our foundational passage, Peter tells the church that our faith is built on the platform of righteousness. Doing what is right according to God’s Word is the foundation or platform of  our faith, our decision making, what the Holy Spirit reminds us of… God’s Word and not just the remembrance of His Word but doing it!

When we do what is right or righteous in all areas of our lives, the world, the ones without God and even in the church… will come up against those who are living righteous. Satan uses culture, people, education, government, employers, employees, friends to make the follower of Jesus Christ feel inferior when in fact we are living superior. This is not to be boastful, we are living at a higher level where “things” are not pulling us down any more. From fear, anxiety, self medicating, foul mouths, drinking, lying, sex outside of marriage… when a Christian, an imitator of Christ does not succumb to these things that are not from God, the world doesnt like it. They will mock you, ridicule you, tease you and Jesus said hate you for His Name sake… Jesus is the Word.

In tonight’s study you will be encouraged that as a follower of Jesus Christ we are not the tail but the head! We are not inferior but superior in doing what is right according to God’s Word. HE, God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him and His ways of living, speaking and acting. - Pastor Grant

“BOLD AS A LION” (08/21/23) ‘Part 2’ (Week 1 of 2) Community Bible Study on Monday nights in Plymouth, MI…Did you know that God’s Word tells us that fear is the opposite of faith? Faith is built on the platform of righteousness, but when fear enters into our thoughts it will eventually manifest itself in our actions. It will paralyze us where we will no longer do what is right according to God’s Word.

Fear is putting more trust on what we can see (the temporal) then what God said He will do which is faith. There will be times in our lives when storms come, financial, divorce, medical, relational, family conflicts and it is then, when our faith is tested, will we still do what is right or righteous? Will we allow God to intervene, will we go to His Word for the answer, will we do what the Word says regardless of how we feel?

Jesus said that our natural feelings based on our circumstances profit us nothing, it is the Spirit that gives life to the situation. Many people try to find scripture to match their feelings instead of letting God’s Word change the way we are thinking, feeling and the actions we are taking.

Remember, take captive thoughts, take captive Words and ideas that are opposing God’s Word and pray His Word out loud, His Promises. Don’t be a thermometer with your problems (matching your mood filled with fear, anxiety, hopelessness) with words and even music that will keep you trapped but be a thermostat with God’s Word and change your future, change your thoughts, change you actions and the right or righteous feelings will follow. - Pastor Grant

“BOLD AS A LION” (08/14/23) ‘Part 1’ Community Bible Study on Monday nights in Plymouth, MI… According to God’s Word, righteousness is: a right standing with God or doing what is right in the sight of God according to HIS WORD. This is speaking about divine nature, a nature change. Having the nature of God and doing what He said we can do, letting His Nature and His Will take a hold of us and be us. Righteousness will give us the ability to stand before God without guilt shame, condemnation or any sense of unworthiness.

God’s Word tells us in Proverbs chapter 28…(Written by the wisest person to have ever lived - King Solomon).

Proverbs 28:1 KJV

The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.

Why are the righteous bold?

2 Peter 1:1 KJV

1…they have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

When we come into the righteousness (right standing) of God and start operating in this righteousness, it gives us this faith that comes to us and flows through us without us having to work it up. This faith will start to become a natural part of this righteousness package as we become more obedient to God’s Word. Jesus said, “If you love me, Keep my Commands”

God’s Word said that closer we get to the return of Jesus (the rapture of the church) the more wicked the world and many religious leaders and people who attend church will be…those who no longer do what is right  according to God’s Word or righteous habitually. Knowing what will come and is happening we need to be BOLD AS A LION!

In the series we will study God's Word on what does it mean to be righteous, how faith and righteousness are connected, how to do what is right (be bold) when many in the church world or religion keep doing what is wrong. We will look at the blessings of doing what is right or righteous in God's Word and what we must do in order to habitually stay in this righteousness in order to live by faith in word and deed. The world without God is looking for people who are BOLD, who are in the LIGHT, who have PEACE and are not afraid of what is happening or what is to come!
